The Kovačič winemaking

Residing in the heart of the renowned Prlekija wine country region within almost a walking distance from Ljutomer, the legacy of the Kovačič family business at the village of Presika is, as the owner himself put it, day after day waking up to an enchanting sight of vines, with the surrounding vineyards making for the last glimpse before turning in.

The family has a longstanding commitment to cultivating premium grapes so their cellar is well worth   visiting.

Their wine is reflective of the specificities of the unique site which it hails from, and of carrying on the rich legacy of their venture.

The terroir and the region, the tradition, and commitment all lend themselves to producing splendid wines. The most of their 6 hectares of vineyards is planted to Šipon, and the rest to a diverse selection of other varieties such as the Rhine Riesling, Yellow Muscat, Traminer, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Red wines are becoming increasingly popular in the Prlekija, so in 2017 Pinot Noir was introduced adding quite a lot to the rainbow of their varieties.

The owner has set the goals for his boutique winery to carry on the family's heritage and traditions, cherish the land, modernize the facilities, and deliver an authentic experience in premium wines. The renovation of their vineyards and the building of a modern wine cellar speak volumes about their commitment to keep on producing wine par excellence.
